Product Details

Ortiz buys their Cantabrian anchovies daily from auctions along the north coast of Spain and processes them the same day. They are caught during the Spring fishing season when they are at their best. The anchovies are put into salt for a minimum of 6 months, depending on the size of the fish. When ready, they are gently washed to remove excess salt, carefully hand-prepared, one by one, and packed into olive oil. The traditional process gives a premium anchovy with a fleshy, firm texture and rich flavour. 

These are ideally enjoyed straight from the tin, laid on toast or used to enhance cooking flavours, brining umami to your dishes. 

Anchovies are a great source of protein and are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which support many health benefits, such as heart health.
